Valentine Harris

Valentine Harris was born in Jamaica and immigrated to the United States in 1981, settling in Maryland. As he adjusted to a new country, he quickly embraced American culture, attended local schools, and experienced immigrant life’s unique opportunities and challenges. At just 14 years old, Valentine started his first job at Burger King, demonstrating a strong work ethic and independence from an early age. This initial step into the workforce set the foundation for a career marked by dedication and perseverance, eventually leading him to a role as a nursing assistant, where his commitment to helping others became evident.

In 2001, Valentine made a life-changing decision to join the U.S. Army as a food service specialist. Over a 20-year military career, he honed his leadership abilities, cultivated discipline, and developed resilience. During his service, he pursued higher education, earning an MBA in Healthcare Management, which reflected his ambition and dedication to continuous improvement. His military experiences reinforced his deep sense of duty and his passion for serving others, particularly in healthcare.

After retiring from the Army in 2021, Valentine turned his attention to issues affecting his community, with a growing interest in the political sphere. While his background in healthcare remained significant, his dedication to civic engagement became a driving force in his life. He is deeply committed to empowering individuals to participate in democracy and make a difference in their communities, guided by his belief in the transformative power of collective action.
